Introduction
As a final year student teacher on the verge of commencing my internship and ultimately aspiring to become a member of the teaching profession, I have become aware of the complexities involved in this ever changing occupation.
In the postmodern classroom, the focus has shifted from a teacher-centred environment to an educational setting in which the student is centralised with opportunities to construct their own meaning which require educators to make complex considerations regarding their learners.
An increasingly globalised society has also had implications on teaching due to technological advances and progressively more diverse learners and stakeholders.
Educators must consider their beliefs pertaining to dealing with the complexities involved in the teaching profession to focus their decision making process when faced with dilemmas. By being cognisant of my beliefs, I am developing a teaching philosophy which is crucial in delivering effective learning experiences as I will be aware of considerations to be able to assist children on their learning journey and have a basis on which to make decisions about inevitable dilemmas.
